Holy cow, its been over a month since I’ve posted. I’m sorry, I’ve been busy working at my internship here in Florida. Anyways…

Good News, the Hithchhiker’s Guide came out in DVD last week! Although I still havent had time to buy it. And on that note, someone has sumited to me a translation of the lyrics to “So Long and Thanks for All the Fish” in Spanish. So I thought I would post it. Thanks Sergio.

So I was flipping through the channels on my TV the other night and what do I find, Douglas Adams on the Letterman (now, this is old letterman back when he hosted ‘Late Night’ on NBC, now hosted by Conan). He was on the show promoting his new book, none other then ‘So Long, And Thanks For All The Fish‘. So the interview was really cool, I’ve never seen a live interview with Adams before so it was pretty cool. During the interview, Adams told a true story that actually happened to him, which he wrote into this 4th book. It was a really funny story, so I thought I would share it to you. This is an excerpt out of the 4th book in Chapter 20.

They found a patch of grass which was relatively free of couples actually lying on top of each other and sat and watched the stunning ducks and the low sunlight rippling on the water which ran beneath the stunning ducks.

“A story,” said Fenchurch, cuddling his arm to her.

“Which will tell you something of the sort of things that happen to me. It’s absolutely true.”

Just thought I would do another post based on the Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy movie that just came out because I just read a really good review on the movie over at blogcritics. Check it out: Film Review: The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.

I believe its a very fair review of the movie with lots of valid points. The development of the “love” story between trillian and Arthur was a bit too much, but I can see why the did it. Also a good point about how the story line of how Ford was a writer for the guide got kinda lost too.

But over all the movie was done well. Someone could of took the movie and over done it with the special effects and ruin it. And like all other books turned into a movie, so much stuff gets cut out and change, this should not be any diffrent.

Also I want to point out that every version of the Hitchhiker “trilogy” has been diffrent and there is no “offical” story. So how can people say the movie sucks because it dosent follow the “real” story line when there really is not one????

Why be so pleasant to Disney. They waited until Douglas Adams died to turn his masterpiece of literature into a long infommercial for Disney merchandise. I’d call that sick and disgusting, Disney has reached a new low. Boycott the movie if you do not want to see a sequel. And specially boycott the DVD rentals and DVD sales, for that’s is where they always expected to see a profit.

HOLY COW, would you of still said that if it was another movie studio who did this film? Every film project has its delays. And as for mass merchandiceing??? there is not too much merchandice from the film, if Disney wanted to promote this and to try to get a big return, there will be alot more merchandice for the movie and they would of used the Disney name and not Touchtone.

so yeah, thats my rant, but thoes are just my thoughts, I could be wrong =P

I just found out that Google has listings of movie reviews…. awesome. These reviews from multiple papers/websites/magazines from around the world. Alot more then what Yahoo! movies post. Very exciting to see. Just type the name of the movie you want to look up into google search and it will come up as the first link on the page, i.e. Hitchhiker’s guide:Google Reviews: The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy (2005). Also note you can find local show times by typeing in your zip code (for the good ole USA anyways)

But I still do like Yahoo!’s movie page, I trust the user reviews more then the professional reviews though. Normally all the bad reviews people give because they are dumb get canceled out by the extremely good reviews that fanatics of the movies give. Check out the yahoo! So just a random thought (hence the blog title), how many people actually brought a towel with them to see Hitchhiker’s Guide?? I know a few people have posted in my comments (1 2 ) they have, but who else? So I went and saw Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy on Saturday and it was awesome. The movie was very true to the book, and the added parts/characters were done nicely. It even had a great opening number that involved Dolphins (which was in the book, not at the beginning though, but I like the choice and how they turned it into a song).

I just want to throw in a note here for people who have not read the book (this is comming after reading a few “reviews” on Yahoo! movies site from people). In the book, there is no real set plot for why things go the way they do, it is kind of play it by ear thing. Each new set of information changes why things happen, and why they are traveling. However in the movie, they desided to give it more of a plot line, but not a big one (has to do with Author going after Trillian for the whole movie). So its very worthwild to skim the book a bit before you go to the movie, it will make your experence more enjoyable (although I have talked to several people who have not read the book and had really no idea what the story was about and they enjoyed it). The books are actually all online. I went into work today, and look what we got in:

From what I know, they are only at the Disney Store. They were not listed online, so you must go to your local mall and pick it up if you want one. They (and most adult t-shirt) are $12.50, or 2 for $20. If you really want one, but cant get to the store, call up a store, and they can mail it to you for a small charge (i believe around $5ish, sent via FedEX ground). Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy comes out tommrow and I’m extremely excited about it =) I actually read the first book on my own (well.. I mean that it was not a school assignment or anything =P ). The trailers for the movie and the random clips I’ve seen look really good and well done (See them here on Yahoo! movies)

SO GO SEE IT ALREADY!!!!
