Fireworks Likely When NASA Blows Up Comet
By ALICIA CHANG, AP Science Writer Sun Jun 26, 7:27 PM ET
LOS ANGELES - Not all dazzling fireworks displays will be on Earth this Independence Day.
NASA hopes to shoot off its own celestial sparks in an audacious mission that will blast a stadium-sized hole in a comet half the size of Manhattan. It would give astronomers their first peek at the inside of one of these heavenly bodies.

I just found this article By H.D.S. Greenway, and published in the Boston Globe and thought it was pretty decent… It takes the ideas brought up in 1984 by George Orwell and applies them to the current situation. Here is the link to the article:

It uses the live RSS feed from SFX. It is pretty neat… if you want it for your site check out this page:

Kingdom In the Sky | # |
General, Disney, Archive — jimmybop @ 11:06 pm
As stated before in this blog, I like to post things that are hard to find so that when people (probably you right now) are searching for something it will be easier to find… well.. this is another one of those posts…..
“Kingdom In the Sky” Is an awesome song by Da Vinci’s Notebook. Read it, or find the song and listen to it and you will know why
Comments of thanks are welcomed (as well as links to your page in the comments so I can randomly check your page) and a link back here would be nice if you copy and paste this to your site/blog.
So here they are… the lyrics for Kingdom in the Sky by Da Vinci’s Notebook:
———————————————-
Kingdom In the Sky
All my life I have been searching
For the fabled Promised Land
With my sisters and my brothers
We shall walk there hand in hand
Through the trials and tribulations
And the devil’s cruel temptations
I know that we will all get there one day
After years and years of wandering
Oh the kingdom we shall find
And the doors may not be open
But we’ll gather in the line
And our hearts will swell with pride
The day those gates swing open wide
And we take a walk down Main Street USA
Oh that Magic Kingdom in the sky
We will all be there together by and by
We will all drink from the fountain
And go riding on Space Mountain
When we reach that Magic Kingdom in the sky
Where Mother Minnie, Father Dopey,
And Saint Tinkerbell abide
There’ll be no more cares or sorrows
On that heavenly Teacup ride
I will lay down all my fears
When I put on those big black ears
And join the choir to sign in harmony
We will sing the songs of aimless souls
Who once had gone astray
Who were lost but now are found
In the Electric Light Parade
Singing Hakuna Matata
Growing Mouseketeer stigmata
In the only Club that’s made for
You and me
Oh that Magic Kingdom in the sky
We will all be there together by and by
All god’s children shall be free in
Pirates of the Caribbean
When we reach that Magic Kingdom in the sky
Oh the meekest and the poorest
Their inheritance shall see
And a zillion Japanese tourists
All will join the jamboree
They will ride that Holy Monorail
Into sweet Providence
When they know that their redeemer
Is a Mouse in Short Red Pants
(nice pants)
Won’t you take me to Orlando
Where the sun is shining bright
All the angels are clean shaven
And the people snowy white
Where your problems are all hidden
And unhappiness forbidden
You’ll find salvation for a modest fee
Climb into my Winnebago
And if you help with the gas
Then we maybe can finagle you
A five or six day pass
May your afterlife be blessed
Just American Express it
Let MasterCard and Visa set you free
Oh that Magic Kingdom in the sky
We will all be there together by and by
All religions may be practiced
There except for Southern Baptist
When we reach that Magic Kingdom in the sky
Oh that Magic Kingdom in the sky
Manufactured by that Uncle Walter guy
We’ll give thanks to that old geezer
And we’ll keep him in the freezer
When we reach that Magic Kingdom in the sky

Last Dispatch | # |
General, Links, Internet — jimmybop @ 2:46 am
So something awesome is comming out….. Last Dispatch. Its hard for me to explain the film, so I’ll let part of the description on the offical site to do the talking for me.
This feature documentary chronicles the last 12 days of the rock band Dispatch, three regular guys who practiced in a barn, struggled to build a career making music… and ontheir way out, made independent music history. The band’s final concert drew 110,000 fans from 20 countries with no formal marketing and no radio airplay on any of their records.
Opening day of the Film is July 29th in Boston, MA. and you can buy tickets for opening night right from the website, and there are also several other things planed for that weekend. You can also view the trailer on the website too.

tag: dispatch
Dispatch is such an awsome band… but as the movie description stated they are no longer performing together as a group, which is very sad because I never got to see them play. If you never head them, check out the movie website and they have one of my favorite song playing, “The General”.
But yeah, Dispatch Fans… Spread the word! banners avalible on the Dispatch movie website!

Douglas Adams on Letterman | # |
General, Quotes, Archive, h2g2 — jimmybop @ 1:10 am
So I was flipping through the channels on my TV the other night and what do I find, Douglas Adams on the Letterman (now, this is old letterman back when he hosted ‘Late Night’ on NBC, now hosted by Conan). He was on the show promoting his new book, none other then ‘So Long, And Thanks For All The Fish‘. So the interview was really cool, I’ve never seen a live interview with Adams before so it was pretty cool. During the interview, Adams told a true story that actually happened to him, which he wrote into this 4th book. It was a really funny story, so I thought I would share it to you. This is an excerpt out of the 4th book in Chapter 20.
This is a converstaion between Author and a female friend, Also note that in England biscuits=cookies

“I’ll tell you a story,” said Arthur.
“Good.”
They found a patch of grass which was relatively free of couples actually lying on top of each other and sat and watched the stunning ducks and the low sunlight rippling on the water which ran beneath the stunning ducks.
“A story,” said Fenchurch, cuddling his arm to her.
“Which will tell you something of the sort of things that happen to me. It’s absolutely true.”

Tom Green USO Iraq Tour | # |
General, Quotes, Links, Internet — jimmybop @ 1:58 am
I know its kinda late to post about this since the thing I am about to comment on is dated over a year ago, but it is better late then never.
So I was randomly searching the internet today and came across this:
TomGreen.com Tom Green USO Iraq Tour.
It is Comedian Tom Green’s story of his trip over seas with the USO in January 2004. It is a great story to go and read.
There are many great stories told of interactions he and his buddy Glen had with the troops. One of the best parts I like from the page is this:
“The pilot got on the headset… “So I loved you in Joe Dirt.” I respond, “Uhh I wasn’t in that one, that was David Spade.” And all the guy’s start laughing, “I’ve been waiting to do that all day!” It’s moments like this that make one pause. You’re flying over the Iraqi desert into Baghdad with reserves from the Illinois National Guard. Your above Iraq laughing and talking about regular shit, like Joe Dirt and Road Trip, and American Idol, and Jackass, and Freddy Got Fingered for crying out loud. And it hits you that these young enlisted men and women are just regular young MTV-watching folks. They are ordinary young American’s fulfilling an extraordinary duty. It’s the regular-kid-next-door-I-pod-blaring-Christina Aguilera side of the American soldier that you don’t often see at home. Relatability is a surprise that makes what they do that much more amazing. And you find yourself feeling proud to be defended by them.”
So yeah, go over and check it out. Support our troops!
